1936. Adler Trumpf-Junior. (Little Larry).
This amazing little car is truly deserving of the description "a timewarp vehicle".
I have owned it for the past 5 years, but before this it was owned by one family from new. It comes with its entire history from new, its orginal bill of sale, all original documentation, and a genuine recorded mileage of only 105,000km, the last 5 of which I have covered myself.
This car has never been restored. The paintwork of the body and the interior are entirely original. The original rubber mats are in place. The original headlining is unmarked. The car remained unused and covered in blankets in a dark, and dry garage from 1973 to 2004. Consequently, all rubber seals on the windows are still soft and in good condition throughout.
Although made in considerable numbers for nearly 10 years, the Adler Trumpf-Junior is quite a rare car now even in its native Germany. This car is one of only two believed to be in use in the UK.
It is reliable, and whilst not exactly fast on only 25bhp, has many sophisticated features not found on British light cars of the 1930s. Front wheel drive, all independent suspension, 4 speed gearbox, conterbalanced crankshaft, and simple, but very comfortable seating.
In 2005, my daughter and I travelled, mostly on minor roads, to the annual Adler ralley in central Germany, an 800 mile round trip, achieved with absolutely no problems whatsoever. In a line up of Trumpf-Juniors, all except Larry, restored cars, the magnetic appeal of the unrestored, totally original car was obvious, always a crowd around it. £7500.00
